The World Cup began earlier this month in Brazil and it is expected to surpass the previous tournament in both viewership and revenue.  Aside from the Olympics, the World Cup generates more revenue than any other sports tournament in the world. Expectations are for $4 Billion in total revenue and over 3 Billion in total viewership. In 2010, the World Cup was held in South Africa and generated $2.7 Billion in revenue while over 3.2 Billion watched at least part of the quadrennial soccer tournament.
